Following Hugo Lloris retiring from the France national team, there are also questions being asked about his long-term future at Tottenham.

The goalkeeper has been with Spurs since he joined them from Lyon in 2010, but the end of his era is drawing near, with the London side looking at what comes next.

Rumours about Tottenham being very interested in Sevilla’s Bono have been rife of late, but he isn’t the only player Fabio Paratici has been looking at.

The Spurs director of football has also cast his eye over Italy, his favourite hunting ground, where he has placed Alex Meret in his sights.

Stories about an interest have appeared here and there of late, but a future at Tottenham for the Italian goalkeeper still seems some way off, even if Napoli have been looking around just in case someone comes in for him.

This is what Ciro Venerato had to say about the player’s future, when asked about it on 1 Station Radio, relayed by Forza Azzurri: “Tottenham were interested, but in the light of the evolution regarding the permanence of Conte and Paratici, I cannot say how much the Londoners can sink the blow.

“Any market story should be taken with a grain of salt. I suppose, in fact, that any English sirens would certainly not be ruled out by the boy and his entourage. This is why the club followed Vicario with interest. I don’t exclude, however, that the parties may find an agreement for the continuation of the relationship.”

Therefore, it seems that both Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte would need to be at Tottenham next year for this deal to take shape.
