Over the past week or so, a handful of people who are directly involved with football were tested positive for Coronavirus and this has partly led to the suspension of leagues across Europe.

Manchester City’s last tie was their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United on March 8th and the Etihad club were one of the first English sides to face the impact (City v Arsenal postponed) of the ongoing pandemic.

The situation has seen Pep Guardiola cancel training sessions and City have informed all their players to train individually at home.

İlkay Gündoğan is among them and the midfielder has given an interview to Spanish newspaper Marca. During the course of the interview, the 29-year-old was asked about his training plan.

Responding to that, he said: “We all have an individualised training plan and I can also work in the gym at home. So, keeping fit is not a problem for me, really.”

“I do miss having the ball at my feet all day, but the break I think will not affect me too much.”

The Germany international explained City players are using the help of technology to stay connected during these tough times. He explained this when Marca suggested that knowing Guardiola, he would give them a lot of work to do from home.

“[Laughs] We’re all connected on WhatsApp and we’re giving daily updates, talking about news. Then each one of us has their individual work plan. That’s it, we can’t do much else right now. But we’re all connected to keep ourselves in the loop.”
