Pep Guardiola has managed to upset a few people in Spain with his comments about the great teams of the past decade.
The Manchester City manager picked out Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich for how dominant they’ve been in terms of winning trophies over the past ten years. Guardiola himself has managed two of those clubs during that time.
That he missed out Real Madrid has caused some irritation, especially for Marca’s Jesus Sanchez.
In a Monday evening article, he says there’s ‘surprise’ at Pep leaving Real Madrid out, but ‘not so much’.
The Spanish club have won the Champions League four out of the past five years, which is of course an amazing achievement. There’s a suggestion that leaving them out but including Barca and Bayern, shows some ego in the City boss.
Sanchez states that sometimes it seems Guardiola has as much need to attract attention as Jose Mourinho, with the insinuation he’s controversial on purpose.
It’s claimed the comments (remember this is all about leaving Madrid out) are ‘unfit for a football sage’.
But this is Barcelona legend and Catalan hero-of-the-people Pep Guardiola, Jesus Sanchez probably shouldn’t be getting himself so upset. It’s really no big deal.
