Manchester City are keen on signing Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Aït-Nouri this summer.
Over the past 24 hours or so, multiple claims from the UK have stated Manchester City are pursuing a move for the left-back. They haven’t found an agreement with Wolves yet, but all parties believe the transfer will go through.
The Wolves star is currently with the Algeria squad preparing for the upcoming friendlies against Rwanda and Sweden. On his arrival in the country, the 23-year-old was spotted by the local reporters.
TSA Algérie relayed his comments and also state he neither confirmed nor denied contact with Manchester City when asked about their interest.
“I’m focusing on the national team. We’ll see. The most important thing is the two games we’re going to play with the national team,” he said.
“Everyone knows that Pep Guardiola is a great coach.”
The fullback spent two years with Angers SCO’s academy and was promoted to their first team in 2018. He spent three years with the French club before leaving them for Wolves in October 2020.
Aït-Nouri’s contract lasts until 2026, with an option for another year. He was close to leaving Vítor Pereira’s side for Manchester City in the January window. This is according to Angers president Romain Chabane and DZ Foot have relayed his comments.
Angers are entitled to receive a percentage of the fee from the Wolves fullback’s sale. Chabane explains why he isn’t considering the potential fee they could receive from Aït-Nouri’s sale to Manchester City just yet.
“I won’t believe it until the transfer is complete. It’s worth noting that at least in January, his transfer fell through at 11:30pm in City’s offices! So as long as there’s no significant transfer fee, I’m not putting him in any budget,” Chabane explained.
On the maximum fee Angers could receive, he added: “50% of the player’s resale, capped at €11.5m and payable over four years.”
