As Paris Saint Germain star Neymar continues to be heavily linked to a move to the Premier League, it’s time for Manchester City to get added to that race.
French outlet L’Equipe today writes that Pep Guardiola ‘probed’ the player to ‘find out his intentions’.
As previously reported, Neymar is not against a departure from PSG this summer, and that’s encouraging Premier League clubs to go after him.
Manchester City would then be joining the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United in this race.
Now despite Pep Guardiola’s call for the signing, that apparently didn’t go down very well.
L’Equipe writes that according to their information, there’s ‘very little chance’ that Manchester City will sign Neymar, at least at this moment.
The report doesn’t make it clear why the Premier League champions wouldn’t be able to sign the Brazilian. That could be a financial issue, or the forward could want, as the exit from PSG doesn’t seem to be a problem.
Despite the many stories about Neymar’s departure, the French media is still to say how much the Ligue 1 side demand for his sale.
It’s worth noting that big claims were already made about Neymar and Manchester United this month, and a lot of it feels like an effort to market the player on behalf of PSG.
