Aston Villa’s Victor Lindelöf says he’s not concerned about supporters’ reactions after Sweden’s defeat to Kosovo on Monday, although he clearly is.

After the match, the centre-back and a few other players gave their take on fans booing. Sportbladet have relayed their comments.

Manchester United released Lindelöf at the end of last season and he waited until deadline day to join Aston Villa.

Therefore, Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson left him out of the squad in September before recalling him for October’s fixtures.

Lindelöf has played 25 minutes from four matches for Aston Villa. Due to a lack of minutes with the Villans, he was an unused substitute in the national team’s World Cup qualifier defeat to Switzerland last week.

On Monday, the 31-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Sweden’s defeat to Kosovo in Gothenburg. This was their third straight defeat in the World Cup qualifiers.

Home supporters booed their own players yesterday and Sportbladet say the defender sarcastically gave the thumbs up to fans on several occasions.

When asked whether anyone had shouted anything specific to him, the Aston Villa player said the boos don’t bother him. His demeanour during the comments made it clear he was angry.

“No. They are welcome to boo if they want. Whether it makes it better or not is up to them to ask themselves. I have been through quite a lot in my career, so I can also react in my own way. People can think what they want about it,” Lindelöf explained.
