There’s a big story out in Peru today saying national team goalkeeper Pedro Gallese could be joining Newcastle United soon.
The information was published by outlet Líbero, who on Wednesday revealed the 27-year-old could be on his way to the Premier League.
And today, they have an update on the story saying this side would be Newcastle United. Gallese would have been recommended by former St James’ Park favourite Nolberto Solano.
Speaking to Radio Ovacion this week, the goalkeeper’s representative Christian Lagrotta has confirmed his will to make a move to England.
“The dream of Pedro Gallese is to play in the Premier League and he’s working to see if it’s fulfilled. I have as a goal to make him grow and try to offer it as much as possible so that it can become a reality,” he told Ovación (via Líbero).
Lagrotta also claimed Gallese’s club Veracruz are interested in the money: “We started to work hard, both us and Veracruz are also interested in a possible sale of Pedro with the level shown. I hope we can achieve something.”
With many rumours saying Newcastle would be looking for a goalkeeper, it all fits together. The Magpies were linked to Gallese back in 2015, and a Spanish speaker would have no issue settling in Rafael Benitez’s squad.
