Arsenal and Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on Charles de Ketelaere’s resurgence at Atalanta and could move for him in future.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say to ‘pay attention to Newcastle and Arsenal’ as the Belgian gets his career back on track.
Mikel Arteta’s side and the Magpies have been credited with interest previously and it’s believed they’re still following the player.
Calciomercato report that the big clubs are ‘back on his trail’ and a departure from Serie A could be on the cards come the summer transfer window.
The website explains that De Ketelaere has ‘changed his life’ since moving on loan to Atalanta from AC Milan in the summer.
He’s been scoring and assisting on a regular basis for club and country, his latest coming in the Europa League clash against Rakow that broke the deadlock.
The Belgian striker is demonstrating that he has put his horrible year at Milan behind him and he continues to ‘find himself’ at Atalanta, something that isn’t going unnoticed.
The 22-year-old’s name has been on the shortlist at the top teams for years and CM.it say they are certain that they will come calling sooner rather than later if he continues as he has started at his loan club.
Atalanta have a €30m option to buy him at the end of this season, a clause it seems likely they will activate as the striker looks to be their latest great find on the market.
CM.it believe there could be a ‘possible attack’ from Arsenal or Newcastle, who would obviously have to provide Atalanta with a profit.
