Coventry City are among the clubs in contention to sign Mjällby AIF’s Abdoulie Manneh.

On Tuesday, Expressen reported Coventry City hope to complete this operation within the next few weeks. It was also stated they’ve started negotiations with the Swedish club.

Fotboll Direkt now relay Expressen’s claim about Coventry City and provide the latest.

It’s claimed Mjällby are aware that some of their players, including Manneh, are attracting interest from several foreign clubs.

With the growing interest, the Allsvenskan side have decided to pause negotiations for potential sales. They want to wait until at least the third week of November.

This will give Mjällby time to evaluate approaches from various clubs and plan a strategy on handling negotiations for Manneh’s future. The report explains several unnamed clubs are preparing bids around SEK 40-45m [€3.6-4.1m] to sign him.

Fotboll Direkt reports Mjällby have already conveyed their plan to Coventry City. In other words, Frank Lampard’s side will have to wait to resume negotiations with the Gambia international’s employer.

The delay could allow other suitors to make advances and beat the Championship club to Manneh’s signature.
