Aston Villa defender Pau Torres has insisted that Clement Lenglet will come good for the club this season, as he’s slowly adapting to work under Unai Emery.

The Aston Villa centre-back has been speaking to Jijantes in Spain, relayed by AS, regarding his fellow defender.

Lenglet arrived at Villa Park on loan from Barcelona in the summer as part of a busy summer transfer of business from the Villans.

He spent last year on loan at Tottenham and had been a regular under Antonio Conte, with most having expected him to return there this season, either on loan again or permanently.

Instead, he ended up at Aston Villa to bolster their squad as they compete for a place at the top end of the Premier League and in Europe this season.

So far, he hasn’t featured in the Premier League but has played three games in the Europa Conference League, leading to some questions over what’s happening.

Torres says there’s nothing going on, though, insisting that the French defender will come good sooner rather than later.

“He arrived with the league advanced,” he said.

“I see him more and more adapted to the idea that the coach has. What he has played in Europe is increasingly looser, with more confidence.

“He could play for Barça again without a doubt,” mentioned the Spanish international center.”
