It’s not hard to find someone with something nice to say about Diogo Jota. Today it’s the turn of the Patrick Cutrone, who played alongside him at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Calciomercato have an interview with the striker today. He discusses his career, ambitions and is keen to remember his former Wolves teammate too.

The pair formed a firm friendship at Molineux after Cutrone joined Wolves from AC Milan in July 2019. Jota was well established at the club by that point, after initially signing from Atlético Madrid in 2017.

That meant he was well placed to help Cutrone settle in. The Italian was arriving from his boyhood club AC Milan, who he had very much not wanted to leave that summer. It was also his first move outside of his native Italy.

He ended up struggling massively at Wolves as a result, with just three goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Clearly very fond of his Wolves teammate

Cutrone doesn’t have many fond memories of that spell, to say the least, but he does remember how much Diogo Jota tried to help him behind the scenes.

“Starting from what happened this summer, it was tough,” he said.

“I have wonderful memories of Diogo; these are tragedies that stay with you. I was lucky enough to play with him at Wolverhampton, I always thought he was an incredible, decisive player.

“Off the pitch, he was a wonderful person, with a beautiful family. When I arrived in England, he helped me settle in. I will always carry him in my heart.”
