Patrick Bamford appears to have been left in limbo, with a potential move to Getafe now on the backburner as he looks for his next club following Leeds United.

Marca cover the situation today, explaining Getafe remain on the hunt for another striker. They’re currently over reliant on Borja Mayoral.

They had been linked with a move for Bamford this week. A report stated that a deal for the former Leeds striker was very close.

He’s available on a free transfer after leaving Leeds in the summer when it was made clear that he was no longer a part of Daniel Farke’s plans.

He had been at Leeds since a €7.9m move from Middlesbrough in 2018. Having fallen out of favour in recent years he was allowed to leave to seek a move elsewhere.

A switch to Spain, which would have been the first move out of his career out of England, could have appealed. It appears that if he’s to get to Getafe then something needs to happen.

Marca report Bamford was the ‘rumour of the week’ but Getafe sporting director Toni Muñoz has calmed it down.

“We are considering bringing in another striker. Bamford isn’t here; there’s nothing at the moment. We’re looking at more forwards,” he said about the former Leeds man.
