Napoli are in negotiations over a deal with Tottenham for midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer, but Daniel Levy is not making things easy.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who cover the latest developments on the Argentine midfielder as Napoli try to sign him.
We’ve already covered two reports today on negotiations between Tottenham and Napoli over Lo Celso, with the midfielder’s entourage admitting publicly that transfer talks are underway.
That was followed by an explanation from Gazzetta dello Sport that detailed how Napoli know negotiations will be tough with Tottenham after Daniel Levy insisted an obligation to buy be included in any loan deal.
Levy is considered a ‘tough nut to crack’ when it comes to negotiations and he’s set a €20m asking price, excluding bonuses, to start things off.
The belief is that an agreement can reached for the same amount but including bonuses, with Levy having turned down a loan deal so far. He’s keen to ‘monetise the outright sale’ of a player who isn’t part of Tottenham’s plans moving forwards.
Napoli hope that his position will soften over time, and he’ll accept what they’ve proposed, or even a loan deal, which would suit them even better.
At the moment Lo Celso has only held initial talks with the Italian champions, who’ve been in touch with his entourage to understand if he wants the move and what his wage demands would be. That side of things is not seen as complicated, and can be sorted out with a little patience.
Indeed, the whole operation needs just that, patience, but there is confidence in Italy that Napoli and Tottenham can reach an agreement in the coming weeks.
