The past few days saw a bit of worry set in within the Italian press as Tottenham were said to be joining the race for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Max Kilman.
The defender is seen by Napoli as the ideal replacement for Kim Min-jae, set for his move to Bayern Munich, and a first bid has already been made.
Corriere dello Sport cover it on Friday, explaining that the ‘path is clearer’ for the Serie A side these days, as the Premier League competition from London have turned their attention on Micky van de Ven.
Following the sales of Rúben Neves and Nathan Collins, Wolves ‘don’t have the same urgent need for sales as they did a month ago’, but if they were to sell Kilman, they would want to do so ‘with their own numbers’.
In their eyes, the centre-back is worth €40m and that’s the price they are sticking to, but the distance between the €35m offered by Napoli and their demands is ‘not unbridgeable’, which is why it’s being negotiated.
With Spurs out of the way, the problem ‘is more an economic question than anything else’, meaning that a bit more money from the Serie A side could get the deal done.
Corriere del Mezzogiorno also have a tidbit on the situation, telling their readers that Wolves still ‘haven’t lowered their demands’ from the €40m.
Gazzetta dello Sport, however, believe the London competition is still there, and since they are ‘endowed with a greater spending capacity’, they know it could become ‘an attractive offer for the centre-back’, which is what the Molineux side want.
With Daniel Levy indeed pushing for Micky van de Ven, we’d be more inclined to lean with Corriere dello Sport at this moment in time, but as Ange Postecoglou will likely to want to reshape the squad a bit, there’s no saying how many defenders he will end up requesting, especially with the likes of Davinson Sanchez expected to leave.
