Hajduk Split fans would start a party and celebrate if they were able to bring Ivan Perisic to the club as part of the deal for youngster Luka Vušković.
That’s according to Slobodna Dalmacija, who say there is hope at the Croatian club of potentially bringing the winger back to his former club.
Reports throughout Croatia and England are making it clear that 16-year-old Vušković is on the verge of moving to Tottenham, who have moved to secure him ahead of increased competition.
A deal appears to be rapidly progressing, although he will not officially sign for Tottenham until 2025 due to the new rules on young players post Brexit.
Alongside those reports have been claims that Perisic could go in the other direction as part of the deal, having been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham throughout the summer.
He never secured that and remains in Ange Postecoglou’s squad but a return to Croatia has been mooted, as opposed to a switch to Saudi Arabia.
Indeed, a report earlier today covered comments from Armenia goalkeeper Ognjen Čančarević, who said he had spoken to Perisic regarding rumours of a return to Hajduk Split and the Tottenham man had told him he was aware of them.
That added a little fuel to the fire and the deal for Luka Vušković has only encouraged things, with Slobodna Dalmacija reporting that Hajduk fans are excited by the idea of Perisic being involved in the deal.
They state that if Perisic went in the opposite direction ‘a party would probably start right away’, if not a celebration of winning the title, the belief being his arrival would make them favourites.
They’d be more than happy to see Perisic arrive, even if it was part of a deal taking their new jewel away from them.
For the moment only a deal for Vušković has been agreed and Perisic remains at Tottenham, but the hope of a deal ‘will definitely warm up’ once the January transfer window rolls around.
