Tottenham Hotspur‘s Alfie Dorrington was on the verge of completing a move to Pogoń Szczecin before it collapsed.
Over the past few days, the centre-back has been in discussions with the Polish club over a permanent move this summer.
On Friday, Sport Witness covered claims from Poland that the Tottenham player was to arrive in Szczecin for his medical.
Pogoń Szczecin owner Alex Haditaghi took to social media to confirm the negotiations for a permanent transfer before deleting the post. He was dismissing claims that it would be a free signing.
“Another completely fabricated story from Tomasz Włodarczyk. Allegedly, Tomasz knows more about this transfer than the person negotiating, approving, and signing the documents,” he said.
“I must be signing the wrong contracts, because the documents before me clearly include a transfer fee and a significant financial package, as well as a significant sell-on clause. Next time, maybe I should call Tomasz before signing anything. He clearly has access to a more detailed version of our contracts than we do.”
Late twist in Tottenham transfer

Pogoń Szczecin were prepared to spend a ‘significant sum’ to bring him to Poland.
Alfie Dorrington was close to joining them and they were sorting out the final details of the transfer. However, the move won’t go through now because the Tottenham Hotspur player changed his mind.
Why Tottenham man rejecting move

She wasn’t keen on a move to Poland, and therefore, he decided against joining Pogoń Szczecin. This is a big blow for the Polish club.
Dorrington, who graduated from Spurs’ academy, made only one appearance for their first team. Tottenham Hotspur sent him on loan to Aberdeen and Salford City over the last 18 months.
The defender’s contract lasts until 2029 and he’s unlikely to have a future under Roberto De Zerbi. He now has to find a new club in England, after rejecting Pogoń Szczecin.
