Two days ago, we relayed news from Italy that there was no reaction from Atalanta when Tottenham Hotspur made an attempt to sign Éderson.
Corriere Torino now provide a background on why the north London club have made an approach for the 24-year-old.
Tottenham have already signed Radu Drăgușin from Genoa earlier this month and it’s said former Spurs director Fabio Paratici gave them a ‘tip’ to take him.
The 51-year-old Italian was at the Premier League side between July 2021 and April 2023, and was forced to step down after he was banned from football activities.
After being ‘burned at the stake’ in Italy over the Juventus chaos, he’s now said to be an advisor to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
The newspaper states that even though he has no contract with Tottenham, his opinion is still heard there. They add it was the former director who suggested they consider signing the Atalanta midfielder.
Paratici had a role in helping Tottenham carry out some signings last summer, including those of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison.
This is his ‘great revenge’ and one more could be on the horizon, with Éderson. Juventus are keen on the player, so Spurs snatching him with the help of Paratici would sting a little.
