On April 16th, Corriere della Sera reported that Tottenham Hotspur ‘like’ AS Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo.

It was also stated the winger is aware the ‘decision time is approaching’, on whether to leave the Serie A side in the next window or sign a new contract. His deal runs down in 2024.

Tottenham Hotspur interest in the 22-year-old is further discussed by Calciomercato.it. Earlier reports suggested the player wants €6m including bonuses to sign a new deal, but his employer have ‘no intention’ of meeting such a figure.

It’s claimed the salary will be the ‘main point’ when the Italy international negotiates with the Giallorossi and/or with his suitors. The attacker cannot be sold for the Roma owners and their chief, Tiago Pinto. At the same time, ‘the fateful proposal cannot be refused’.

José Mourinho’s side are looking at €60-70m, but the report says his ‘valuation at present cannot go beyond’ €40-50m’. Apart from Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus are interested in Zaniolo.

The Old Lady have so far not submitted any offers, but it is no longer a secret they have an interest in the Roma star, Fabio Paratici had him on his agenda three years ago. He left Juve and joined Spurs last summer.

Calciomercato.it state Zaniolo has remained on the Tottenham Hotspur’s chief transfer list. Paratici has ‘by no means excluded from trying to bring’ the wideman to the north London club in the summer.

A move away from Italy, especially to the Premier League, would be ‘taken into greater consideration’ since clubs in England would have the resources to table ‘more attractive offer’ to Roma than Juve.

Antonio Conte’s side are among Zaniolo’s foreign suitors, and his valuation is believed to be around €40-50m. It remains to be seen whether Roma will look to sell him in the summer or try to renew his contract.
