Earlier on Thursday, we saw surprising news from Mexico claiming that Marcelo Flores is about to leave Arsenal.
It was claimed the youngster is ‘very close’ to joining Tigres, and it could be a ‘matter of hours’ until that transfer is done.
Now as ESPN journalist David Faitelson comments on this potential move, he brings some criticism towards the Arsenal player.
On Twitter, the reporter pointed out that the move could work well for a youngster who couldn’t really show all of his potential so far.
“Marcelo Flores arrives at Tigres… An overrated footballer, but still young. He can and should recover from the “slide” his career has been on: Arsenal, Real Oviedo and now Tigres,” said Faitelson.
The reason for those heavy comments about Flores’ career is that the Mexican media had given the midfielder a huge attention since his early years at Arsenal.
Without even playing for the Gunners’ first team, the youngster was called up for Mexico’s national team at the age of 17, and could never really impress there.
Following a loan spell at Real Oviedo last season, Flores returned to Arsenal and doesn’t seem to be in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the season.
Now we shall see whether the move to Leon is on a permanent or a loan move.
