Rafa Mujica had a difficult January, waiting for his Real Oviedo exit to be sorted out.
On loan at the Spanish club from Leeds United, the forward was way out of the picture and once again hitting a bump in his young career.
Signing for Leeds United in 2019, having been released by Barcelona, Oviedo was the third club he’d been on loan at from the Yorkshire club. Moves to Extremadura UD and Villarreal B didn’t lead to anything more long term, and then Oviedo quickly turned into a disaster of a choice.
Las Palmas were interested throughout the winter market, yet had to get rid of a few players to be able to sign the 22-year-old. At a certain point that looked like it wouldn’t happened, and Mujica would be left without anywhere to play for the rest of the season.
Then right at the end of the market, Las Palmas got their house in order and completed a loan from Leeds… and Rafa Mujica has topped it all off by scoring on his debut.
Despite a 3-1 loss to Almeria, Mujica impressed, with AS saying he was ‘the most outstanding footballer’ for the visitors.
Manager Pepe Mel was happy with his new signing, and things are finally looking up for the player.
