Illan Meslier initially joined Leeds United on loan from FC Lorient in 2019 and his stay at Elland Road was made permanent the following year.

The goalkeeper was No.1 for Leeds until the end of last season.

Daniel Farke has started summer signing Lucas Perri in the first three league games and Karl Darlow against Fulham at the weekend. Meslier dropped further down the pecking order and is currently third choice at Leeds.

Meslier is in his final year of contract, and his future is likely to be away from the Whites beyond this season. According to Calciomercato.it, Inter Milan have identified him as one of the options to replace their starter, Yann Sommer.

The 36-year-old is the No.1 for the Nerazzurri since joining them in 2023 and his contract expires in 2026. The Italian club have started searching the market for a new stopper, while waiting to see second-choice goalkeeper Josep Martínez can convince them.

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta would prefer an Italian, with Cagliari’s Elia Caprile an option. The Serie A club are also looking at potential free agents, and this is where the Leeds man comes into the picture.

It’s claimed the 25-year-old Frenchman and Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow are being considered. Such an opportunity would obviously be an incredibile one for Meslier.
