Since the Brazilian media reported that Santos are getting ready to sell Deivid Washington to Chelsea, there have been a couple of interesting updates.
The first comes from UOL, who claim the clubs now wait for Monaco to show their official stance on the subject.
The French club have the preference of the player, and now have until Monday to match Chelsea’s bid for Deivid Washington.
UOL says the Blues’ offer is worth €15m, plus bonuses of €5m which can be easily achieved.
It turns out that as Santos played Athletico Paranaense on Saturday, Deivid Washington was left out of the squad.
The local media soon wondered if that decision had something to do with the negotiation with Chelsea, and as manager Paulo Turra held a press conference after the game, he confirmed it.
“Deivid? It was a request from the president. Not a request. An order from the president. That he’s being traded and everyone knows it.”
Globo Esporte bring the quotes and explain that his absence doesn’t mean the deal is done, as that’s taken more as a ‘precaution’ during the negotiations.
It’s also claimed that despite the €15m bid, Chelsea already agreed to raise it to €20m. The talks are handled by Giuliano Bertolucci, who worked on Angelo’s transfer from Santos to the Blues this summer.
