Ramon Jesurun, President of the Colombian Football Federation, has hailed Everton star James Rodriguez, saying the midfielder has returned to ‘optimal level’ at the club.

Rodriguez has been in top form for Everton since arriving at the club on a free transfer from Real Madrid in the summer.

His last year at the Bernabeu was an extremely frustrating one as he spent the season largely consigned to the sidelines following a successful two-year loan spell with German champions Bayern Munich.

The move to Everton has afforded him regular playing time and the star status he desired, with the Colombian very much the focal point of Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

That has seen him return to his best on the pitch, with four goals and seven assists in 17 games in all competitions an excellent return so far.

His performances have certainly not gone unnoticed in his homeland, with the president of the Colombian Football Federation impressed by what he’s seen so far.

“I have a lot of contact, permanent contact, with the players who are in Europe,”  he told EFE, relayed by Gol Caracol.

“He is in a very good moment; he is at an optimal level, he has contributed a lot to Everton.

“He is undoubtedly a player who you feel is already part of a system as a fundamental player within the team.

“You see on television that the players are constantly demonstrating this to him.”
