Southampton may have been presented with their chance to sign Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund, with an exit now seen as ‘logical’.
That’s according to Ruhr Nachrichten, who say the player’s agent’s recent comments criticising Dortmund have caused ‘maximum irritation’ and led to any exit being seen as the outcome everyone wants this summer.
A report yesterday put Southampton among the growing list of suitors for Moukoko, explaining that the striker wants to depart this summer after basically falling out with the German side.
That report made it clear he was eyeing a move abroad to get away from the pressure put on him in Germany, potentially giving Southampton their shot.
Ruhr Nachrichten continue that today explaining that that the relationship between Dortmund and the player is ‘extremely tense’ at this moment in time.
Matters have ‘hardened’ after his agent’s comments criticising the club, which caused ‘maximum annoyance’ for those higher up at Dortmund and has made a separation the ‘only logical way out’ for everyone involved.
Moukoko, for his part, is doing his best to put on a good face for the public in pre-season training and wants to avoid putting out an image of him being and ‘unnerved, unmotivated player’ who wants to leave.
The reality of the situation is that he does, though, and Southampton very much have the chance to get him if they want to push forward.
