Aston Villa could be presented with the opportunity to get summer target Marcos Acuña this month, with all involved determined to get him out of the club.
That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla, who say ‘all parties will try to seek a transfer’ this month and in the summer thanks to the player’s worsening relationship with the club.
Acuña was heavily linked with a move away from Sevilla throughout the summer, with former director of football Monchi trying to take him to Aston Villa with him.
That never happened though as the Spanish side played hardball, unimpressed by the bid made and the fact it was coming from Villa.
Acuña ultimately ended up staying where he was thanks to an injury anyway but was less than impressed, with it reported yesterday that the whole affair had broken his relationship with the club.
That was largely due to the fact he felt he’d been robbed of the last big contract of his career and Vamos Mi Sevilla report he wants another shot at getting it this month.
According to them, the 32-year-old will use this month and the summer to seek a transfer from Sevilla and end his relationship with them.
The Spanish side are also happy for him to go now, having found a replacement in Adria Pedrosa anyway, and given the fact he’ll be entering the final year of his deal in the summer.
The opportunity is there, then, for Aston Villa to get their man and even potentially get him in a bargain deal as well.
They’ll have to be careful as he’s suffered another injury this month which could be problematic, but the opportunity is there nonetheless, if they’re still keen on the Argentine that is.
