Goalkeeper Elia Caprile has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Serie B, with his move from Leeds United very much a successful one so far.

Caprile left Leeds U21s set up in the summer, bringing an end to a two-year spell at Elland Road following a move from Chievo U19s in 2020.

He made 19 appearances for Leeds U19s in the intervening years but failed to break into the first team set up or make a single appearance for them, sent on loan to Pro Patria last year in the process.

He elected to move to Bari from Leeds in the summer in search of regular playing time and has managed just that, making 11 appearances in Serie B so far and managing three clean sheets in total.

He’s been earning admiring glances, with a report yesterday detailing how his market value has doubled and there are likely to be interested parties in the January transfer window.

That remains to be seen and, in the meantime, he is being praised, with Bari sporting director Ciro Polito praising him today.

“Caprile is confirming himself, in my opinion, as one of the best goalkeepers in Italy,” TuttoMercatoWeb report him saying to Ottochannel.

“Maybe I am biased, it is true. Walter Zenga has also confirmed this.”
