Last week, claims from Italy explained Manchester United had found an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Adrien Rabiot.

The deal is pending because the Red Devils must agree terms with the midfielder’s agent and mother, Veronique.

On Tuesday, we covered a claim made by Gianluca Di Marzio that Manchester United’s talks to sign the 27-year-old have ‘slowed down’ due to his ‘very high requests’ when it comes to salary.

Reports in Italy stressed Rabiot’s camp are demanding €9.5m per year, while Erik ten Hag’s side are offering €6.5m. Due to the difference, reports in the UK stated the deal has collapsed.

These claims are relayed in today’s edition of L’Equipe and they give their own take on why the operation to take the France international to Manchester United is ‘stuck’.

Although in England they say it is the end of negotiations for the ex-Paris Saint-Germain man, the French newspaper states it is ‘not over’.

Rabiot joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2019. His entourage are using this to argue with the Serie A side to ‘lower’ the transfer fee. With this, the midfielder’s camp are hopeful of obtaining an ‘increase in the salary proposal’ from Manchester United.

Although L’Equipe don’t mention it, there’s always the chance of the Premier League club paying a lower transfer fee and then using the money saved as a signing-on bonus.
