Tottenham may end up competing with Atletico Madrid for South Korean star Kang-in Lee this summer after taking note of his impressive performances this season.
That’s according to AS, who say the player has an ‘open door for June’ and plenty of sides interested in his signature.
The newspaper explains that Atletico are keen on the 22-year-old, having already tried to sign him in the January transfer window after Joao Felix and Matheus Cunha departed the club.
Mallorca refused at the time but his performances this season have elevated him to the point that keeping hold will be near on impossible as he is a ‘coveted piece of the market’.
Atletico are yet to ask about another transfer or contact their Spanish counterparts or the player, but their interest is there as he is available for €20m and seen as a ‘good market opportunity’.
They’ve been watching his performances for months but have been joined in doing so by Tottenham, who have also ‘closely followed’ his progress.
Both clubs are aware that after a move was rejected in January it is an ‘open door for June’ as the player and his club are ‘willing to negotiate’ a transfer.
Any move from Tottenham is likely to depend on who their next manager is but the interest is there, nonetheless.
