Liverpool could turn to Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi to replace Jürgen Klopp and triple his wage packet from Italy in the process.
That’s the ‘bombshell’ claim from journalist Enrico Camelio, relayed by L’Interista, who claims that the Italian could very much be in the picture at Anfield.
Klopp is set to depart at the end of the season after announcing his decision to step away earlier this year and the race is now on to find his replacement.
With the German having reportedly made the decision to leave back in November, Liverpool have been working behind the scenes since that point on a restructure, with Michael Edwards returning and several managers eyed as part of a data driven approach to finding Klopp’s successor.
Inzaghi could be one of the names on their list after his impressive work at Inter Milan, where he’s led them 16 points clear at the top of Serie A this season and reached the Champions League final in the last campaign despite an ever-diminishing budget at the club.
He’s been earning rave reviews for the way his team play and the performances they put in, even if this week saw them exit the Champions League in disappointing fashion at the hands of Atlético Madrid.
And that could lead him to Liverpool, at least according to Camelio, who dropped the ‘bombshell’ to TV Play on Twitch.
He said: “Don’t ask me about the team. It’s clearly not in Italy, I’ll give you two teams that give three times what Simone Inzaghi gets. One is Liverpool and one is Bayern Munich, one of the two is interested in Simone Inzaghi. And beware that Inter have to sell a star player, it’s already on the record.”
