French newspaper L’Equipe published a story on Wednesday evening claiming everything was agreed on Paul Pogba to Manchester United.
And that’s still pretty much the case, the same figures are mentioned in their Friday edition, but it’s Mino Raiola and his fee apparently holding things up.
On the €120m transfer, L’Equipe say Raiola is due a figure which could rise to €20m and Juventus don’t want that coming from the transfer fee. They’d rather Raiola gives up the money, or some of it, or comes to an arrangement with Manchester United.
In Italy it’s been reported that Raiola, and Pogba, are due 20% of any fee, that being agreed with Juventus upon contract renewal. It’s a big ask from the Turin club to get the pair to turn it down, given that they’ve both played a huge part in the player’s value rising, and in him going to Juve in the first place.
If ever an agent and player were entitled to a chunk of a transfer fee, then this is one of those times.
All this contradicts claims from Italy on Wednesday morning that Raiola had agreed to bring the % down, to 10%.
At this point, we very much doubt Raiola or anyone else is feeding a several times a day drip of information to anyone in the media. So there’s a lot of educated assumption going on.
