Tottenham have ‘cast their fishing rod’ for Hertha Berlin youngster Boris “Bobo” Mamzuah Lum as he continues to earn himself a growing reputation in the game.
That’s according to BILD, who say the youngster is considered one of the Hertha Academy’s greatest talents and has a list of clubs interested in his signature.
They report that the 16-year-old midfielder has a growing number of suitors interested in his signature, having impressed in the youth ranks at the German club and even joined the first-team squad at a training camp in Spain at the beginning of January.
He even earned the praise of manager Pal Dardai, who raved about the youngster when asked about him.
“I haven’t seen a central midfielder like that at Hertha for a long time. He is one of the greatest talents of recent years. It’s a pleasure to watch him play. He is a born footballer,” he is quoted as saying.
BILD report that praise extends to clubs in Europe, with top clubs having ‘cast a fishing rod’ for the Hertha jewel.
Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Ajax and RB Salzburg have all made contact already while Barcelona and Tottenham ‘have Lum in their sights’.
They’re all very much chasing the youngster, although Hertha have moved to ensure they are protected by signing the German U17 international to a long-term deal.
BILD explain that deal saw him extend until 2026, with his salary set to increase from year to year and a mutual option for an extension until 2027. There is also a €5m release clause included in the contract should anyone make serious moves.
That would not be a difficult figure for Tottenham or any of the other suitors to pay, of course, with their interest established and the fishing rod already cast.
