Maurizio Sarri ‘would like’ to join Arsenal or Tottenham this summer as he plans his way back into football.

That’s according to Italian journalist Raffaele Auriemma, who says it is between the two London clubs for the former Chelsea boss.

Sarri has been out of work since leaving Juventus last year and had looked likely to return to coaching in Italy, in particular with Roma.

However, those plans were scuppered by Jose Mourinho’s surprise appointment at the club, leaving Sarri to look at alternative options.

Tottenham have been named as one of his potential clubs for the past few months, even more so since sacking Mourinho in April.

At first, it appeared Sarri was not keen on the move, but that has changed in the last few weeks, with it now stated he is open to returning to London.

Arsenal have also been named as a potential destination amid a growing sense that Mikel Arteta could be replaced after a disappointing season.

A return to England is very much on the cards; then, something backed up by Italian journalists Christian Bosco and Auriemma.

“The Figline Valdarno trainer has asked for a four-year contract and to have carte blanche on the market, this is his will, and he would prefer to go in the Premier League, in the English league,” Bosco told Si Gonfia La Rete, relayed by Area Napoli.

“Ramadani was in England until a few days ago: Sarri would like one between Arsenal and Tottenham…” added Auriemma.

These comments are the latest in a growing list of suggestions Sarri will end up back in England at some point this summer.

So far, there appears to have been no concrete talks, certainly not with Arsenal or Tottenham, but both, particularly the former, keep being named as options for him.

Clearly, something is going on and with Spurs at least in need of a new manager, the links definitely make sense.

Whether anything comes of them remains to be seen but expect more rumours in the coming weeks, with Sarri seemingly gearing up to find his next club.
