Leicester City’s Wout Faes is on his way to join AS Monaco in the winter market, according to multiple claims.
The Belgium’s international’s performances at the King Power Stadium have dropped in recent months. Some may say that can be extended to recent years.
Martí Cifuentes hasn’t utilised him since the end of November. This has seen the centre-back lose his spot in the national team and also be subject to criticism.
Two months ago, Stade de Reims Directeur Général Mathieu Lacour came out in his defence. The official was also confident his former player could rise to the top with proper support and guidance. Sébastien Pocognoli may offer him that at Monaco.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report Monaco reached an agreement with Leicester City on Tuesday. They will sign the centre-back on loan with an option to buy. He makes no mention of the purchase clause.
Tavolieri reports the 27-year-old will arrive in Monaco today to complete his loan transfer. He’s confident the Leicester player will play for the Ligue 1 side in the second half of this season.
Leicester City transfer in works for days
Over at Nice-Matin, they report the defender has been in negotiations with Monaco over the past few days.
According to the newspaper, the Belgian has already arrived in Monaco and met his new teammates. They state he already signed his contract on Tuesday.
Faes isn’t training yet under Pocognoli’s orders. That’s because the Foxes and Monaco are still sorting out the final details of the operation. There’s confidence this will be ironed out soon so that Monaco can announce his arrival.
Faes has played 16 matches for the Championship side this season. He hasn’t represented the national team since last September. The Belgian would be hoping a move to Monaco can improve his chances of representing his country at the next World Cup.
