Oliver Glasner is probably one of our favourite managers here at Sport Witness. The Crystal Palace chief is often giving interesting interviews to the Austrian media.
This time he’s been speaking to the Austrian edition of Kicker.
Crystal Palace beat Liverpool at the weekend with a very late winner. It turned the table on what the Reds have been doing themselves recently.
The Eagles are now 18 games without a loss and find themselves third in the Premier League. All of this has seen Glasner get a lot of attention, and that’s not just limited to the UK.
Kicker got in touch with the man of the moment following that victory over Arne Slot’s side. One of the first questions was whether Crystal Palace’s run shows the power of team over individuals, to which Glasner said: “I am convinced that continuity is a key prerequisite for success, but you also need very good players, which we fortunately have.”
Asked if Crystal Palace could even qualify for the Champions League this season, he said: “We’re not worried about the final standings at the moment. I’m very down-to-earth and don’t forget that last season we had the worst Premier League start in Palace’s history, which ended with a record points haul.”
He batted away a question about his future and was then asked about motivation for the Dynamo Kyiv game given the drop from Europa League: “We have accepted UEFA’s decision, even if we still don’t understand it, and we travel to Lublin with great anticipation of the European adventure, even if our feelings about the political situation are somewhat mixed.”
