Bayer Leverkusen is not a priority for Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner this summer, as he plans his next move.

SportBILD report that while the Austrian is on Bayer Leverkusen’s wish list, he is not overly keen on a return to Germany.

Glasner return to Germany doubted

The magazine explains that Bayer Leverkusen are eyeing up their next manager and are drawing up a shortlist of options.

Club boss Fernando Carro and sporting director Simon Rolfes are already working on that front. Girona boss Miguel Ángel Sánchez Muñoz (50), known as Míchel, is on the list. He was already a target when Xabi Alonso departed.

But Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is ‘considered the top candidate’. He is leaving Selhurst Park at the end of June. He is seen as a manager who ‘guarantees success’ but there is an issue. The Austrian would prefer to stay in England this summer.

Thus, a move for him is currently not being explored. It seems Bayer Leverkusen don’t see the point as Glasner has made his stance clear.

Post Crystal Palace plans

Where Oliver Glasner goes next, remains to be seen. The 51-year-old will surely not be short of options this summer.

Having led Crystal Palace to the FA Cup last season, and the Europa Conference League final this season, his stock has never been higher. Success in the latter would only raise it further.

He also has history of success to given he won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 to as well. And he guided Wolfsburg to the Champions League during his time there.

That makes him a candidate that is hard to ignore. Bayer Leverkusen are certainly interested and have him on their list. But it seems Glasner wants to remain in England when he leaves Crystal Palace in the coming weeks. Which English clubs might have him on their agenda, is yet to come to light.
