Jeremy Doku’s first appearances for Manchester City has been generating some very positive comments in the Belgian media.

This weekend, the winger scored his first goal for Pep Guardiola’s side in the 3-1 win over West Ham United, and had his performance highly praised in his home country.

Some interesting quotes were made by former Belgian player Eric Van Meir on Play Sports. As relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, the pundit claimed Doku has been showing huge potential in his first minutes for Manchester City.

“In that phase of the field, he’s perhaps the best in the world. Some continually say that he scores too few goals and provides too few assists. But he’s oh so dangerous and almost continuously so. He can create danger in short spaces and also from long distance. His starting speed is insane,” said Eric Van Meir.

The pundit also claimed that Doku will soon take over as one of the main players in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

“He is even more explosive than Eden Hazard, who was better on the ball. But I’m sure that he will have better statistics than Grealish.”

Doku had been playing for French side Rennes this season, and even made a couple of appearances for them before Manchester City came in for his signing.

The Treble winners spent €60m on the transfer, having handed him a five-year contract. For now, he seems to be proving he was worth the bet, and the Belgian media makes it clear they have huge confidence on his future at the club.
