There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce are again showing interest in Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The Croatian international has been linked with a move to the Istanbul club this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in an experienced central midfielder.
Following their exit from the Champions League qualifiers, Mourinho has reportedly held meetings with the Fenerbahce hierarchy, and the Portuguese coach has requested they sign the Manchester City player.
The loss of Fred to injury for the start of the season has also been a contributing factor in Mourinho wanting to sign the 30-year-old before the window closes.
Yenicag Gazetesi claim Fenerbahce officials will, in the coming days, travel to England to hold transfer talks for Kovacic. According to the Turkish media outlet the Yellow Canaries are lining up an offer for the midfielder and will be hoping they can convince him and his club.
However, whether they can persuade Kovacic and Manchester City will be another thing. The former Chelsea man will be be seen as a key member of the Premier League side’s squad this season and it’s unlikely he would be sold this summer.
Kovacic is contracted to the English club until June 2027.
