Galatasaray are in the market for a defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.
They’ve been tracking a number of players this month and are now showing interest in Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangare.
The Ivory Coast international had previously been linked with a transfer to the Super Lig, following attempts made by Fenerbahçe in 2024.
The Yellow Canaries came in with a €20m offer for the Nottingham Forest player. Jose Mourinho was keen on the player and instructed the Gala hierarchy to sign him.
However, the Portuguese coach departed the Yellow Canaries not long afterwards and the rumours went away.
According to Aspor, Galatasaray will give the Nottingham Forest player another opportunity to head to the Super Lig.
Yesterday, we covered reports Gala vice president Abdullah Kavukcu had flown into Luton. The official will hold transfer talks with Premier League clubs, with the intention of signing a new No.6.
Kavukcu has been joined by George Gardi, who will help in negotiations. The Italian acted as an intermediary in when Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen moved to the Istanbul giants.
Nottingham Forest talks to be accelerated
Transfer talks for Sangare will now be accelerated, along with other Premier League midfield targets. There is no indication what the Super Lig leaders will offer for the 28-year-old.
Tottenham Hotspurs’ Yves Bissouma is another target, with talks ongoing for the Mali international. West Ham United youngster Soungoutou Magassa has also been linked in recent days.
Despite this interest from Galatasaray, Nottingham Forest will want to keep hold of Sangare. Douglas Luiz has agreed to re-sign for Aston Villa so selling Sangare in this window would leave Sean Dyche light in central midfield.
Sangare has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to the Premier League club until June 2028.
