When one of a club’s official accounts follows a player on Twitter, the deal is done, right? RIGHT?

That’s what’s happened on Friday afternoon as Arsenal’s Spanish Twitter account followed Lucas Pérez after news that a medical was passed and the player was on the verge of completing a move to the Emirates.

All summer, the London club have been chasing strikers like Alexandre Lacazette, but with five days left before the end of the transfer window, it seems Arsenal fans will have to make do with Lucas Pérez.

We say ‘make do’, but the Spanish striker is a handy player to have, especially considering he scored 17 goals and picked up 11 assists in all competitions last season.

Of course, he isn’t the big name everyone was expecting (or hoping for if you’re an Arsenal fan), but it’s better than having to rely on Olivier Giroud all season or shoehorning Alexis Sanchez up top.

The striker arrives from Deportivo La Coruña for a fee believed to be the €20m the Spanish club were asking for a.k.a the amount of his release clause.
