Pierre Dwomoh has revealed Watford refused to let him leave in the summer window.

Het Nieuwsblad have published an interview with the 21-year-old where they discuss a few topics. That includes developments which took place in the summer.

The report states Konyaspor and Cercle Brugge had tried to tempt the midfielder to leave Watford. The Turkish club were offering convincing terms..

According to the Belgian newspaper, Konyaspor offered a tempting salary, and their sporting project also seemed very convincing.

Dwomoh indicates his head had turned after the Süper Lig club made concrete efforts. The move never took shape because both Watford owner Gino Pozzo and the English club were against his exit.

“Konyaspor wanted to build a team around me, offered me a substantial salary, and are aiming for a Champions League spot. That’ll make everyone think twice,” he said.

“But I respect that owner Gino Pozzo and the Watford family didn’t want to let me go. I’m in a good place here in London.”

Dwomoh is a product of KRC Genk’s youth system and his failure to cement a place in their first team resulted in his sale to Royal Antwerp in August 2021.

He failed to impress for Royal Antwerp, who then sent him on loan to SC Braga, KV Ostende and RWD Molenbeek before selling him to Watford.

The player’s dream is the Premier League and feels he can achieve it with the Championship club. Watford are currently 21st in the table after six matches.

“At Watford, I’m one step away from my ultimate dream. I know where the club wants me [Dwomoh is under contract until 2028]. The fact that I wasn’t allowed to make a transfer this summer shows that Watford still believes in me,” Dwomoh explained.
