In September, Stoke City turned down Standard Liège’s late attempt to sign Eric Bocat.
On September 9th, we covered claims from Belgium that the left-back had agreed personal terms with Standard Liège. However, the Potters refused to sanction a move.
Standard Liège haven’t forgotten the Stoke City player, and have revived their interest. On December 1st, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported Bocat is their priority target for the winter market.
Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest on the Belgian club’s pursuit of the 26-year-old.
He claims the Jupiler Pro League side have sent an offer to the Potters to sign the player. The proposal is to sign him on loan with a €1.6m purchase option payable in instalments.
According to the journalist, ‘this offer is insufficient’ for the Championship side. Therefore, they will reject it in the coming hours.
As well as Standard Liège, Bocat has received offers from an unnamed German club. He has a contract until 2028, and Stoke City want to convince the player to stay. There’s no mention of the fullback’s stance on leaving the English club in January.
Bocat has played 716 minutes from 12 matches under Mark Robins’ orders this season.
