According to a report in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce have stepped up their pursuit of Sheffield United midfielder Vinicius Souza, with a claim the Super Lig side have made an offer.

Fenerbahce have been linked with a move for the Brazilian in the past week as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in central midfielder this summer.

Sabah today report Fenerbahce have come in with a €12m bid for the Sheffield United player, but this falls below the Championship side’s valuation of the defensive midfielder.

As reported yesterday and relayed by Sabah today, the Blades are looking to make a profit on Souza and are hoping for above €15m. Sheffield United purchased the 25-year-old for €12.5m last summer, and whilst that €15m represents a profit and the Turkish media claim that’s what will be needed, it still feels a little low.

The two clubs will hold further meetings this week as they look to reach an agreement over the player’s transfer fee. The window in the UK closes this Friday, but Fenerbahce still have until mid-September to finalise a deal for Souza due to the Super Lig deadline.

Souza made 38 appearances for Sheffield United last season, scoring one goal. He’s contracted to the Blades until June 2027 after arriving last summer.
