There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Besiktas are making attempts to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.
The Ivory Coast international was linked with a move to the Super Lig in January, and we covered reports of Galatasaray’s interest.
Takvim report Besiktas are likely to be in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer with doubts over the future of Wilfred Ndidi.
Ndidi signed for the Black Eagles last summer from Leicester City and impressed in his debut season in Super Lig. This has led to interest from other clubs, with a return to the Premier League a possibility.
Nottingham Forest player prime target
Subsequently, Sangare has emerged as Besiktas’ prime target if they need to bring in a No.6 to replace Ndidi.
It’s claimed the Istanbul club have made initial contact with the Nottingham Forest player’s agent. Besiktas are now expected to make contact with the Premier League to understand the terms of a possible deal.
However, the Super Lig club could be priced out of a deal for the Ivorian, with Nottingham Forest expected to demand a high transfer fee.
Offer being lined up
An offer will come in soon from Besiktas, but the amount hasn’t been disclosed by the Turkish media outlet.
During the last window, Galatasaray also made an attempt to sign Sangare and their vice president Abdullah Kavukcu flew in for talks. The Istanbul side were in the market for a central midfielder and had been linked with other Premier League players.
Kavukcu was joined by Italian agent George Gardi, but they were unable to convince Nottingham Forest over a deal. The East Midlands club were keen to keep hold of the 28- year-old after Douglas Luiz went to Aston Villa.
Sangare has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists. He’s contracted to the City Ground club until June 2028.
