Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has been on loan at PSV Eindhoven since last summer and has impressed for them this season. The centre-back has managed four goals and an assist from 34 games.
The 20-year-old’s fine displays have already pleased PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had earlier urged the Eredivisie side to retain him beyond this season.
After PSV’s 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend, Van Nistelrooy again revealed his desire to buy the Everton owned player. He made these claims to Eindhovens Dagblad, quoted by PSV Fans.
“Of course, we want to keep our best players and we will see if anything is possible. We know where he [Wolves’ Fábio Silva] is under contract and what the price tag might be,” he said.
“That also applies to Jarrad Branthwaite. If we want to attract them, it will probably be very difficult for us. Yet it is now also a pleasure to work with them and to see how they take steps in their career.”
Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink, relayed by another report from PSV Fans, says Everton would demand a fee between €10m and €15m for the defender.
Even though the figure quoted may not seem high, Elfrink states this would be a ‘mega-investment’ for a club like PSV. Therefore, this would make it ‘extremely complicated’ for the Dutch club to possibly buy Branthwaite from the Toffees in the summer.
The England U20 international has a contract at Everton until 2025.
