Girona star Valentín Castellanos has admitted it would be a dream to move to Manchester City and play alongside compatriot Julian Alvarez.
The striker has been speaking to D Sports Radio, relayed by TNT Sports, after throwing himself into the limelight this week with four goals for the Spanish side in the 4-2 win over Real Madrid.
That quadruple continued the fine form he’s enjoyed with Girona this season, where he has scored 11 goals and assisted one in 29 league games since joining on loan from New York City in the summer.
Those numbers have not gone unnoticed, and he has been linked with a permanent switch to Europe this summer, particularly as several Premier League clubs were keen on him last year too.
“Being at City, with Guardiola, Haaland, with Julian, obviously it’s a dream. Today I’m not thinking about it, I’m focused on Girona,” he said when asked about a possible move to the Etihad.
That was brought up because the City Group who own Manchester City also run Girona and New York City, meaning a transfer would be a simple one to get over the line.
Indeed, players moving between the clubs, as has been the case with Castellanos moving from New York to Girona, is a common occurrence.
It’s rare for players to move from one of the smaller sides to Manchester City, though, and Castellanos will probably need to score a lot more goals and perform like he did against Madrid a lot more often if he is to be playing alongside Alvarez any time soon.
