Liverpool’s Vítězslav Jaroš has spent the past few seasons away from Anfield on loan. Arne Slot included him in his plans last season, but the goalkeeper was limited to only two appearances.
Last summer, the Reds let the Czech Republic international join Ajax on a season-long loan deal. He cemented his place at the Eredivisie side, keeping two clean sheets and conceding 16 goals from 10 matches.
The stopper’s form for Ajax helped him play his second match for the national team last month. The Liverpool loanee was selected for the World Cup qualifiers against Croatia and Faroe Islands in October.
The Czech Republican football association today confirm the 24-year-old withdrew from the squad due to an injury. Ivan Hašek, the national team manager, has more concern as Slavia Prague goalkeeper Jindřich Staněk is out of the squad with a ‘health problem’.
There’s no mention of the nature of setbacks suffered by the Liverpool man and Staněk. Hašek has announced Viktoria Plzeň’s Martin Jedlička and SC Braga’s Lukáš Horníček as the duo’s replacements.
“It’s obviously a complication, but we have to deal with it. Staňka and Jaroš are struggling with health issues, so we’ve called up Lukáš Horníček and Martin Jedlička. They will join the national team at the start of the camp,” he said.
Ajax and Liverpool could be keeping a close watch on Jaroš’ situation.
