Southampton have received a massive injury boost as Jan Bednarek will be in contention to represent Poland against Czech Republic in the European qualifiers on Friday, according to WP SportoweFakty.
The centre-back was replaced in the first-half during the Saints’ 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
It was earlier suggested the Southampton player had suffered a rib fracture and there were concerns over his availability to feature for his country in the ongoing international break.
A detailed examination has ‘ruled out’ a rib fracture for Bednarek. He trained with the rest of the group on Tuesday and the report adds ‘everything indicates’ the 26-year-old will be available for Fernando Santos later this week.
The PZPN [Polish FA] team manager and spokesperson, Jakub Kwiatkowski, has provided ‘positive information’ on the Southampton defender’s injury.
“Does his rib still hurt? Certainly yes, but when you looked at him during training, you could not see that anything was wrong with him. Janek is a tough footballer,” Kwiatkowski told the Polish Press Agency, relayed by WP SportoweFakty.
Rubén Sellés’ side are at the bottom of the table, s the Poland official confirming Bednarek has returned to training will come as a boost for Southampton in their battle to avoid relegation.
