Moisés Caicedo scored for Chelsea in their 2-1 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge at the weekend. The Ecuador international played the full 90 minutes in his seventh league start of this season.

Last month, Ecuador manager Sebastián Beccacece said he’s one of top three midfielders in the world.

Despite hailing the Chelsea star, Beccacece left him out of the squad for friendlies against USA and Mexico this month.

Bolavip report the manager’s decision came as a surprise, and they explain why he left the 23-year-old out.

Chelsea are said to have been in contact about the player suffering discomfort although he started against Liverpool on Saturday.

Caicedo was part of the Chelsea squad that won the Club World Cup in July. Following this tournament, he didn’t have sufficient time to rest and recover. He’s made nine appearances and played every minute in the league and Champions League this season.

Beccacece excluded Caicedo so that he can use the international break to rest, to prevent a possible injury.

Marca also report the national team manager left the Chelsea player out of the squad so that he can rest, to ‘avoid possible injury’.
