Nottingham Forest will need to almost triple their initial offer for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez if they wish to sign him this summer.
That’s according to Onda Cero, who detail the situation around the World Cup winner today and what Nottingham Forest need to offer to get him.
They explain that Rodriguez is one of the ‘main assets’ in Betis’ squad at this moment in time as they look to secure a big sale to aid their finances.
He’s in the final year of his current deal so selling makes sense if an extension cannot be agreed but that doesn’t mean they’ll sell on the cheap.
They’ve already rejected ‘insufficient offers’ from Nottingham Forest, with the Premier League side placing a bid worth €7.5m for him.
That was far below what Betis were looking for, as they value Rodriguez at closer to €20m and want a deal which would see them receive €15m fixed plus €5m in bonuses. Onda state that it’s been made clear if any suitor reaches that amount, ‘they can take’ the midfielder.
Whether either Nottingham Forest or Lyon are willing to match their demands isn’t mentioned and that remains to be seen.
If Forest are to do so they will need to nearly triple their original offer, which is an almighty leap to take in one go, particularly given they are well stocked when it comes to central midfielders as it is.
