Nottingham Forest are now in talks with Oliver Glasner, after parting with Vítor Pereira, as their manager churn continues.
Pereira said there wasn’t any warning and the Premier League side’s decision to show him the exit door came as a “complete surprise”.
While the work is ongoing to appoint a new manager, Nottingham Forest are focusing on reshaping their squad this summer.
New target for Nottingham Forest from Spain
The English club have set their sights on Sevilla’s Joaquín Martínez Gauna, also known as Oso. That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, who make it clear it’s their own information.
Last season, he operated as a left-back and a left winger, managing two goals and three assists from 30 matches. His development at the La Liga side have caught the attention of clubs in Spain and across Europe.
On Wednesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Newcastle United and Fiorentina are in the picture to sign him.
The outlet now backs it up and states these two clubs, plus RC Strasbourg, have followed him. Oso is also attracting strong interest from Villarreal and Real Sociedad.
Nottingham Forest have made a ‘last-minute entry’ into the race to sign the 22-year-old and have the resources needed to secure his services.
With multiple clubs in the mix, there could be a bidding war for the Spaniard’s signature. There’s no mention of his plans for this summer or preference among the aforementioned suitors.
Why Sevilla forced to sell
Oso has less than a year left on his contract and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €10m.
This is the fee the Spanish club are demanding to negotiate his sale, while their intention is to retain him by offering an extension. Sevilla sporting director José Ignacio Navarro wants to use the contract renewal as a ‘leverage’ to set a minimum price of €10m.
The two parties are not close to an agreement for the renewal because the Spanish club would find it difficult to meet his high salary demand.
Therefore, Sevilla are forced to sell Oso this summer, to avoid losing him for free in 2027.
Nottingham Forest are in the bidding war and could win the race, if they were to convince the player.
